It's been a while since I've had the pleasure of writing a new edition of road notes as we have been mostly sedentary these last couple months, but lucky for all of us, Lose Control hit the road last weekend! Sure it was a mere two shows in Arizona, but so much can happen in two days. Let's get started shall we?
Our first show was in Tucson with a band called Eyes Set To Kill, whom A.J. has been playing with for the past couple months filling in on guitar. Through his trials and tribulations he was able to finagle a direct support slot for Lose Control. Our ride out there was relatively uneventful other than the usual; we left an hour and a half later than we planned on, we hit more traffic than we expected, we almost ran out of gas, and we had to stop at a gas station about 10 miles outside of Tucson so that our drummer Pat could retrieve a shoe that was left there last time we played. To be fair it was my fault because I accidentally kicked it out of the car while I drunkenly stumbled toward a McDonald's like a wounded moth to a flame. Distractions aside, we arrived to the venue with plenty of time to spare.
After a decent meal in downtown Tucson, we headed back to load our gear into the venue only to find that for the first time in history, the show was about a half hour ahead of schedule and we had to play early. The result was us rushing our gear onto stage and playing with very little warm up time. I was a bit nervous that it would effect our performance, but we actually pulled it off quite well and we have the new fans to prove it.
After the show, more specifically after some celebratory "van beers" with our new friends from Eyes Set To Kill, we made our way to The Hut, which is the venue we usually play when we are out there. We met up with our friend and sound man, David, who was extremely kind enough again to let us sleep at his recording studio. The next day we headed for Scottsdale after an extremely funny reggae jam session. Oh, and here is a video of me from that morning which I'm betting will make you laugh:
Scottsdale was an absolute blast. We've played Rock Bar Inc about five times at this point, but this time was by far the best. The place was packed, we played really well, and we had an incredible amount of fun. Not much more can be said than that. Unfortunately, we stepped off stage at about 10pm on a Sunday night in Scottsdale, Arizona and three out of four of us had to be at work at 8am the next morning in Los Angeles, California. The one person out of four that didn't have work was A.J. meaning he had a six and a half hour drive ahead of him. Miraculously we all made it back home in time for work, and that's the end of my rock n' roll story.
As far as future plans go we have several shows in the works, and we've also finished two new songs which we are still figuring out what to do with… This day and age it's not so cut and dry. Hopefully, we will come to a verdict soon and have something released in April. We will certainly be posting a lot more videos in the next few months, so PLEASE subscribe to our youtube channel (There is a link at the bottom right of this web page). Other than that, if you made it this far, admit it you like us! We'll keep working hard for you and we look forward to your comments, feedback, and friendly faces in the crowd. Thank you.
