Album Review: Powerplay Magazine
April 23, 2015
As many of you know we have been out on the road these past few weeks. To be brief, things are going great! I will be writing a formal blog chronicling our adventures by early next week. In the meantime, check out this awesome album review we got from the UK's Powerplay Magazine:
LOSE CONTROL
'Let It Be Known'
Genre: Hard Rock
Independent Release
"Formed back in 2011 in California by Jeff Nisen and A.J. Bartholomew, the core guitar vocal duo of Lose Control, their short time together has seen them find time amidst their American gigging schedule to follow up up their debut EP of 2012 with their first album. Featuring bassist, vocalist, and songwriter Mitch Davis, now settled in the band together with full time drummer Patrick Salmon, Let It Be Known is a full-on, gravel voiced hard rock collection. The album isn't without some subtle touces, such as bringing the accordion to 'The Weight of the Sea' and cello on 'Bulletproof', although they remain discreetly low in the mix. The variety comes in the form of the arrangements, which see the hard rocking pattern underscored by some decent picking and changes of pace; the aforementioned 'The Weight of the Sea' rolling along on a slowly swinging rhythm, while 'Overboard' and the more commercial slant of 'Gone' have that GNR/Aerosmith style swagger all in the name of characteristically American styled rock.
Remaining unsigned, as promising as they sound, Lose Control just need that lucky break to strike clear of the pack.
Powerpoints: 7"
